Willard Van Ryswyk

Willard Van Ryswyk was born April 5, 1923 in Marion County, Iowa the son of Mathys and Hermina (Van Helten) Van Ryswyk.
He was raised in the Pleasantville, Iowa area where he started farming with his father as a young man. On February 28, 1948 he was united in marriage to Doris Ackerly. The couple lived and farmed in the Pleasantville community. To this union a son, Wilbur and a daughter, Angie were born. In addition to farming, Willard raised dairy cattle and ran a detasseling crew for years.
In his spare time, Willard enjoyed fishing and collecting antique tractors. He also attended tractor shows across the Midwest.
Willard passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Accura of Knoxville at the age of 99 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; son, Wilbur; daughter, Angie Hall; siblings: Donald Van Ryswyk, Sr., Tonie, Dick, Marion, James, Jennie Slykhuis and Orpha Ulm and grandson, Scott Van Ryswyk.
Those left to cherish Willard’s memory include his grandchildren: Shawn (Amber) Van Ryswyk, Sidney Van Ryswyk, Julie (Tom) Beck, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Hall and Jennifer Hall; sister, Mildred Maeschen; many great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.
A funeral service for Willard Van Ryswyk, age 99 of Pleasantville, will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Celebrate Church of Knoxville, Iowa.
