Vernon Lee Connett Jr.
April 9, 1957 — November 26, 2022
Vernon Lee Connett, Jr. was born April 9, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Vernon Lee Connett, Sr. and Valeria (Evans) Connett.
He was raised in southeast Des Moines on Vandalia Road. Vern attended Southeast Polk High School. On August 6, 1976 he was united in marriage to Denyse Nelson. The couple lived in Mitchellville prior to moving to the Pleasantville area in 1991. Vern worked in construction most of his life; he built homes and did flat work in asphalt and concrete. For the last 12 years he has been a custodian for the Carlisle Community School District.
In his spare time, Vern enjoyed spending time with family, camping and his dog, Dylan. He also liked riding his custom built Volkswagen trike, especially his recent trip to Sturgis.
Vern passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at his home at the age of 65 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to honor Vern’s memory include his wife, Denyse; son, Joshua; daughter, Jamie; grandchildren: Gunner Connett, Trenedy Jones, Manadia Ibrahim, Dalton Connett and Brenden Connett; great grandchild, Layla Connett; siblings: Vickie Northway and Linda Ripperger and many other family members and friends.
