Verna Jolene Douglas was born June 18, 1938 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Kermit and Eva (Robinson) Kincaid.
Verna graduated from Knoxville High School and on June 1, 1957 she was united in marriage to Clarence “Stick” Douglas. When their children got older, Verna took a job with 3M. She worked at 3M over 15 years before retirement.
In her spare time, Verna enjoyed making crafts and picking up a bargain at Dollar Tree. Her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren.
Verna passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Chariton, Iowa at the age of 83 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Eva; daughter, Melinda Moore and husband, Clarence.
Those left to cherish Verna’s memory include her children: Randy (Tracy) Douglas of Knoxville, Sherry (Mike) Goff of Melcher and Craig Douglas of Knoxville; sister, Carolyn Matkovich of Des Moines; brother, Roy (Alice) Kincaid of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Joe Moore and many other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service for Verna Douglas, age 83 of Knoxville, will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Celebrate Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to EveryStep Hospice.
