Vera Jean Perryman was born December 29, 1927 in Clarke County, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Olive (Bush) Moser.
She was raised east of Weldon, Iowa and graduated from Garden Grove High School. Following high school, Vera moved to Des Moines and took a secretarial job. While in Des Moines, she met Dr. Hubert Perryman, they were married on June 20, 1948. The couple moved to Pleasantville to start a practice in the early 1950’s and raise their two sons. Vera was a very gifted artist and especially enjoyed painting while studying under Maxine Pendry. Vera even designed their home on Sunset Drive in Pleasantville, by building an elaborate scale model out of balsa wood. While living in Pleasantville, she was very active in the community, and enjoyed golfing and entertaining.
Many years later the couple divorced. She worked as the office manager for Colony Park and retired as the office manager for Dr. Jeffrey Carithers. Following her retirement, Vera moved to Belle Vista, Arkansas where she spent many happy years with her companion, T.J. Tjaden. After T.J.’s death, Vera returned to Des Moines in 2017.
Vera passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Kavanagh House on 56th Street, in Des Moines, at the age of 91 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Olive Moser and her sister, Ellen Hacker.
Those left to cherish Vera’s memory include her sister, Darlene Jackson of Osceola; her sons: Dr. Dennis Perryman (Kathie) of Melcher and David Perryman (Sandy) of Carlisle; grandchildren: Rebecca and Eric and Nicole, Sean and Carly; great-grandchild, Vera; and many other family members and friends.



A Visitation for Vera Perryman, age 91 of West Des Moines and formerly of Pleasantville, will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home, in Pleasantville. A private family burial will be in the Leon, Iowa Cemetery at a later date.
