Tamara Lynn Bonnett
May 31, 1958 — December 5, 2020
Tamara Lynn Bonnett, 62, a 1976 Pleasantville High School graduate, passed away on the morning of December 5, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Her death was due to complications of advanced cancer.
Tammy was born on May 31st, 1958 to Gary and Shirley Wallace in Des Moines, Iowa at Des Moines General Hospital. She attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas, were she received first communion.
In her youth, she enjoyed life on the farm by adopting multitudes of animals, such as ducks, rabbits, cats and dogs. She loved to go camping and fishing with her siblings and ride the horses on the farm. In winter she loved to ice skate and sled down the driveway with her siblings.
During high school, Tammy was a cheerleader and was active in band where she played the clarinet. She was also in choir, on the high school journalism staff and ran the hurdles in track.
After graduating high school, she went on to study nursing at the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines. She graduated with her registered nursing degree and worked in several different medical facilities caring for others for many years.
Tammy married Rex Bonnett of Indianola on July 10, 1976 and they had two daughters, Christina Britton and Jessica Metcalf.
Tammy enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, playing card games, watching movies, working with ceramics and as all the family knows, she was the reigning “Yahtzee Queen’. She really enjoyed being around her family, and especially her grandchildren and playing games with them and celebrating their birthdays.
Tammy is predeceased by her mother, Shirley Wallace.
She is survived by her father, Gary Wallace; daughters, Christina (Steve) Britton and Jessica (Brad) Metcalf; grandsons Chase and Parker Britton, and Carter Metcalf and granddaughter Clara Metcalf; her brothers Gary E. (Patty) and Michael Wallace (Teresa) and her sisters Stephanie (Justin) Fehrer and Beth (Curt) Boza; and many nieces and nephews.
