In October, 1970, she met Robert Wilson, a University of Iowa Writer’s Workshop participant and a New York City playwright and director, who asked her to appear in his play at the university. Following the play and two weeks after her 30th birthday, she boarded a bus for New York City for a two week vacation to be in the same play. Her two weeks resulted in 36 years in the Big Apple. She also worked with other directors, authored and performed in her own plays and modeled at the School of Visual Arts. She was employed by the Greater New York Council of the Boy Scouts of America and retired from there after 26 years. Susan moved to Oskaloosa, IA in 2007 and relocated to a care center in Pleasantville in 2015.
