Shirley Jeanette Houseman

Shirley Jeanette Houseman was born August 25, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Harry H. and Gertrude H. (Sommerfeld) Riley.
She was raised in the Des Moines area. Shirley was united in marriage to Warren Houseman on December 9, 1955. The couple enjoyed camping, showing horses and trail riding at Stephens State Forest for over 30 years. Shirley also enjoyed crocheting and carving leather items to give to people, bird watching and feeding the wildlife around her home.
Shirley passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab, in Knoxville, at the age of 88 years.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Warren and daughter, Betty Snyder.
Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory include her daughter, Corina (Joe) Ernst of Lacona; son, Phillip (Joanne) Ballard of Pueblo, Colorado; grandchildren, Gerald (Patti) Snyder, Jason Ballard, Alvan (Angie) Snyder, David (Lauren) Ernst, Edwin (Mindy) Snyder, Travis (Allison) Ernst; great grandchildren, Warren, Kate, Samantha, Levi, Mark, Dillion, Vernie, Loretta, Keira and Ellie. 3 great-great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
Shirley has been cremated and a private ceremony will be held at a later date.
