Funeral services for Shirley Jean Anderson age 73 of Ottumwa will be held on Friday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She is survived by her sons: Jeff (Brenda) Anderson of Farnhamville and Bruce (Donna) Anderson of Ottumwa; 3 grandchildren: Alex Anderson of Henderson, NV, Holly Anderson of Panora and Bridget Anderson of Ottumwa; great-grandson, Brenden Anderson of Henderson, NV and a sister, Frances (Larry) Page of New Mexico.
Shirley Jean Anderson was born October 21, 1942 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Leland F. Brause and Wilma Wilkes Brause.
Shirley graduated from Tracy High School with the Class of 1960. In 1962 she was united in marriage to Larry Anderson. She had lived in Tracy, Colorado and Des Moines before moving to Ottumwa in 2002. Shirley was a C.N.A. in nursing homes in the Knoxville and Oskaloosa areas. While living in Des Moines, she also worked for the Sears Credit Center before moving to Ottumwa.
Shirley had a deep commitment to bringing comfort to those in need. She was always an advocate for others and made sure her patients and fellow residents were taken care of.
Shirley passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Ridgewood Nursing Center, in Ottumwa, Iowa at the age of 73 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Wilma Brause.
