Sally Lugene Phillips was born May 21, 1941 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of James Vern Nash and Vivian Irene (Miller) Nash.
She was raised in Knoxville and graduated with the Knoxville High School Class of 1959. Sally then attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa graduating with a degree in Social Work. She first lived in Perry, Iowa, then Wisconsin, Carlisle, Iowa and Houston, Texas before returning to Knoxville. Sally worked as a cashier at Hy-Vee in Knoxville until lung problems forced her to retire.
Sally was a very social person and maintained a close relationship with her classmates and had a weekly dinner group with friends. She enjoyed playing games, especially cards.
Sally passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 75 years.
Those left to cherish Sally’s memory include her brother, Larry (Janet) Nash of Fairfield, Iowa; niece, Deborah (Jeff) Kiekel of Overland Park, Kansas; nephew, Todd (Dana) Nash of Oxford, Iowa; great nieces and nephews: Wade, Eric, Erica, Lisa, Brendon, Kyle, Scott and Becca and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service for Sally L. Phillips, age 75 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the First United Methodist Church Radio Ministry.
