Roger Dale Jordan was born January 29, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa the 2nd of four children to Ellis Rodney and Frances (Brooks) Jordan.
Roger was raised on his family’s farm and during his school years, he was active in 4-H, FFA and wrestling. Following graduation from Pleasantville High School he attended Iowa State University, graduating with a major in Farm Operations. Roger worked for Ted Ward and George Carpenter before partnering with his father, Ellis and his brother, Rodney in the family farming operation in 1977. He farmed in Marion County his entire life.
In his spare time, Roger enjoyed his classic Camaro and Chevelle, riding his Harley, and in his younger years dirt bike riding. He also liked sprint car racing with his brothers Rodney and Gary and the three brothers were inducted into the Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame in 2010.
Roger passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Cottages, in Pella, at the age of 68 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Wayne.
Those left to honor Roger’s memory include his brother, Rodney; sister, Cynthia (Neil) Crane of Colorado; sister-in-law, Patricia Jordan; niece, Angela (Brian) Johns of Carlisle and their family – Madison and Olivia; niece, Emily (Joe) Herring of Eldora and their family – Nina and Leo and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral service for Roger Jordan, age 68 of Knoxville, will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Fairview Christian Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Christian Church or to Wesley Life Hospice.
