Roger Edwin Hartz, 65, went to be with our Lord April 17, 2016 at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Roger was born on November 8, 1950 in Pleasantville, Iowa the son of Edwin and Fern (Knouse) Hartz. Roger attended Milo School and Winifred Law Opportunity School when it first opened west of Indianola.
Roger worked and lived at many different places. He like to work and always enjoyed being rewarded for his accomplishments. One his favorite things to do was washing and buffing cars. He painted Hawkeye and Cyclone stones when he lived in Adel. The last job he held was at Genesis where he was very proud of how many linens he could fold in one day.
Roger enjoyed going to see his great nieces and nephews play their sports. He enjoyed bowling at the Special Olympics and traveling on his Special Journey’s trips. He also enjoyed being in Best Buddies and being with his family on holidays. He enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus and giving all his great nieces and nephews a candy cane at family Christmas gatherings. He was their special great uncle and he will be missed by all his family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and special uncle, Benny Brooks.
Roger is survived by his sisters: Sandy (Richard) Oldaker of Milo and Donna (Doyle) Schrader of Lacona; brother, Jerry (Jennifer) Hartz of Alexandria, Virginia; special aunt, Midge Brooks of Pleasantville and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
