Robert Ayres Weist
February 7, 1932 — January 11, 2014
Robert Ayres Weist was born February 7, 1932 in Seymour, Iowa the son of Roy and Orpha (Van Dorn) Weist.
He graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1949. Bob worked for the railroad for a few years and then started trucking for his father. He later took a job driving for Central Construction. On August 16, 1958 Bob was united in marriage to Carla King in Centerville. During the late 1960’s Bob was working on the Red Rock Dam, when he and Carla decided to move to Knoxville. Following the lake project, Bob went to work for Ben Shinn Trucking. He retired in the late 1990’s.
In his spare time, Bob enjoyed sprint car racing, and worked security at the races for a few years. He also enjoyed watching sports, but his greatest joy was his family, especially the grandchildren.
Bob passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 81 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wanda Ross.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carla; daughters: Tara (Ray) Kraber of Wellington, Florida and Amanda (Austin) Kingrey of Knoxville; three grandsons: Benjamin Kraber, Trenten Kingrey and Briar Kingrey; brother, Ronald (Inez) Weist of Vienna, Virginia and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Robert Weist, age 81 of Knoxville, will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
