Robert Dean Beier
June 14, 1936 — February 22, 2020
Robert Dean Beier was born June 14, 1936 in Mason City, Iowa the son of Elmer and Faye (Bridges) Beier.
He was raised in Klemme, Iowa and graduated from Klemme High School. Following high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He served four years before his honorable discharge. Robert then attended A.I.B., in Des Moines. In 1959 he was united in marriage to Donna Carolus in Klemme, Iowa. Robert worked for Agri Industries in Avon, Iowa for 20 years. For most of their married life Robert and Donna lived in Pleasantville, Iowa where he worked for the Pleasantville School System where he was known as “Mr. Bob”. He was a custodian and bus driver. He enjoyed his work and retired at the age of 70.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed spending time with family and watching the birds. He was also an avid Hawkeye Basketball and Chicago Cubs fan.
Robert passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 83 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Eugene Beier, Lavonne Simon, Beverly Thorson, Shirley Doolittle, Gordon Beier, and Janis Smith
Those left to honor Robert’s memory include his wife, Donna; children: Rod Beier (Carol Beier), Randy Beier, Jeff Beier (Micki Beier) and Jill Freel (Brian Freel); 8 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 2 precious great-grandsons: siblings_Ronald Beier, Joann Hansen, James Beier and Roger Beier and many other family members and friends.
Robert has been cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Pleasantville Rescue Unit and Fairview Church.
