Richard Dean Lyon
January 11, 1925 — March 29, 2018
Richard’s life journey ended March 29, 2018. Richard was born to Glen and Florene Lyon January 11, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa. He served in WWII from 1943 – 1945. After studying mechanical engineering at Iowa State University, Richard returned to Pleasantville to farm. Richard was married to his childhood sweetheart, Berniel Phillips for 60 years before her passing in 2007. His love of family, farm and friends were his lights of inspiration.
Children left to celebrate his life are Craig Lyon of Pleasantville, Linda (Scott) Ivie of Mt. Prospect, IL, Larry Lyon of Tempe, AZ and Mark (Julie) Lyon of Pleasantville; grandchildren: Brittany (Dan) Harban, Elliot Ivie, Amada (Peter) Nanawa, Erika Lyon and David Lyon and several nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 1st at Mason Funeral Home, in Pleasantville, IA, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville Senior Center, Shadle Memorial Library or a charity of choice. Private burial will be in Wheeling Cemetery at a later date.
