Richard Lee Krichau (69) of rural Pleasantville passed away peacefully at The Village of Indianola on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021.

Rich was born May 5th, 1951 to Ivan and Georgia (Collins) Krichau. He grew up in Pleasantville and graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1969. During high school Rich played both center and nose guard for the Pleasantville Trojans and was recognized as an all-state performer.

Rich married Pamela Horsman in 1971 and they moved to a farm close to his parents in Warren County three years later. Rich and Pam welcomed three beautiful children into the world: Joshua, Adam, and his most beautiful accomplishment, Maiga Leigh. Rich would often work a full day uptown and come home to help his father around the farm in the evenings. Rich was known in the community as a hard-working, honest, and dependable man.
Rich met and married the love of his life, Lisa Lee Porter, in 1987. Lisa was overjoyed to help with raising Joshua, Adam, and Maiga alongside Rich. Being parents and grandparents was the joy of their lives. They never missed a sporting event, birthday party, or other family milestone. They were quiet, kind, generous, and thoughtful people.

Over the years, Rich worked for the Vander Linden Brothers and eventually began a successful plumbing and construction business. Rich was involved in the community where he served several terms on the Pleasantville School Board and was a key part in the formation of the Pleasantville EMS Department. Rich was a man that showed passion and took action; and was a loyal community figure.

Survivors include his children, Joshua (Allison) Krichau of Indianola; Adam (Megan) Krichau of Pleasantville; Maiga (Joe) Van Haalen of Pleasantville. His numerous grandchildren include Noah, Tate and Owen Krichau; Keagen Krichau and Kitt Lundy; Kendall, Dane and Callahan Krichau; and Hunter, Scout, Gauge, Kelsee, and Kylee Van Haalen. His brother Danny (Deb) Krichau; Uncles Larry (Connie) Collins and Herb Collins; Mother-in-law Deb Porter, sister-in-laws; Jacque (Brian) Perkins, Lori Keillor, Brother-in-laws; Craig (Julie) Porter, Phil (Clisty) Porter, and Steve (Jenn) Porter, cousins, friends, and extended family will also continue to cherish his memory.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Georgia Krichau, father-in-law Jerry Porter, mother-in-law Janet Breuklander, and his beloved wife, Lisa.

Rich has been cremated. Visitation will be Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held in May.
