Phyllis June Clark Mott was born February 4, 1930 in Pleasantville, Iowa the daughter of Donald and Alice (Richards) Clark.
Phyllis graduated from Pleasantville High School with the class of 1947. She married Corwin Worth Mott on October 15, 1948. Corwin and Phyllis made their first home in New Virginia, Iowa. In 1955 they moved to a farm southwest of Knoxville and that is when Corwin and Phyllis started their farming operation. In 1963 Corwin and Phyllis moved to Phyllis’s family farm southwest of Pleasantville. They continued to farm there with Corwin’s brother, Benny, until Corwin retired in 2009 and they moved into Pleasantville to a duplex.
Phyllis enjoyed the years she was employed with Marion County, retiring as the Assessor. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed family dinners, especially during the holidays. After losing her sight to macular degeneration she spent many hours listening to audio books. Phyllis especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Phyllis passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at her daughter’s home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Corwin in 2010; sister, Donna Faye Galvin and brother, Dwight Clark.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Goering and son, Roger (Jan) Mott all of Pleasantville; siblings, Ken (Diana) Clark of Des Moines; Donny (Linda) Clark of Palm Springs, California and Diane Dunn of Indianola; six granddaughters: Melanie (Aaron) Hurt, Amy (Jon) Guy; Alaina Goering, Alyssa Goering, Janie (Tommy) Hunter and Emily (Kale) Sparling and ten great-grandchildren.

Interment
Phyllis has been cremated and a private burial will be held in the Pleasantville Cemetery at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macular Degeneration Research or to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
