Phyllis Mae Gordon, 67, of Knoxville, Iowa, died at home on August 21, 2020, after a long illness. Phyllis was born August 24, 1952 in Waukon, Iowa to Phillip and Doris (Sickles) Mulholland. She attended Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and graduated in 1970. She was joined in marriage to Danny Steve Gordon on July 11, 1970 in Cedar Rapids, IA, after meeting on a blind date. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
She loved being a stay-at-home mom to her three children, Jimmy Jay (Bobbi Snodgrass) of Indianola, IA, Paula Bellman (Kelly Carel) of Seymour, IA, Bob (Krista) of Milo, IA. After they were grown, she worked at Marywood Orchards in Indianola, IA.
Phyllis always had a ready smile and welcome to everyone who crossed her path. She loved fishing, flower gardening, reading, and hunting morel mushrooms. She was an avid baker and canner winning hundreds of blue ribbons at the Warren County Fair with her jams, jellies and breads. Camping and fishing with her relatives in Lansing, Iowa was a favorite pastime.
Her eleven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren were her world and she enjoyed playing cards and having sleepovers. Holidays were the highlight of the year for Phyllis especially Christmas where she would decorate her home with her seven trees.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brothers David and Ron Mulholland of Knoxville, IA, Mike Mulholland of Blairstown, Fred and Kevin (Joel) Mulholland of Cedar Rapids, IA and sister Jenny Hootman of Blairstown, IA. Two aunts Shirley (LeRoy) Olsen of Marshalltown, IA and Florence Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA. Sisters-in-law Cindy Gordon of Runnells, IA. Patti Gordon of Wapello, IA and brothers-in-law Ron Gordon of Eldorado, Kansas and Alan Gordon of Des Moines, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dwayne, Jerry, Tom Mulholland and brothers-in-law Paul Hootman, Craig and Richard Gordon. Father-in-law Wilbur Gordon and mother-in-law Donna Gordon.
She has been cremated and the family will hold a “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at 1283 Hayes Drive, Knoxville, IA.
