Phillip James Sage was born May 25, 1968 in Pella, Iowa the son of Truman Edward Sage, Jr. and Carol Romick Sage.
Phil was raised in Pleasantville, Iowa graduating with the Class of 1986. During high school, Phil was active in 4-H, the F.F.A., band and football. He had a strong work ethic and took jobs with local farmers throughout school. Following graduation, Phil worked various jobs, including Vermeer, residential construction, and meat packing. In 1993 he took a job with 3M, eventually becoming a multi craft mechanic. On January 19, 2018 he was united in marriage to his soulmate, the former Gina Vasquez.
In his spare time, Phil enjoyed sprint car racing, including working with Joe Beaver and being an owner with Steve Breazeale. He was an avid outdoorsman, whether hunting, fishing, or camping. No matter if it was bow, muzzle loader or shotgun season Phil was a willing participant. His greatest joy was family; he instilled a love of 4-H and F.F.A. in his children and a sense of accomplishment in a job well done.
Phil passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at his home, in Knoxville, surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed on Monday, April 16th, 2001 and his good friend, Terry Phillips.
Those left to cherish Phil’s memory include his wife, Gina; children: Ky (Kelsey) and their daughter Hazel Grace, Lexi, Bailey (Jordan) and their daughter Evelynn, Kinnedy, Cael and Remy; mother, Carol Sage; siblings: Krystal (Jeff) Lagud and Kandace (Ken) Edwards and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Pleasantville F.F.A. or to Our Union 4-H Club.

Phil has been cremated and interment will be in Pleasantville Cemetery at a later date.
