Phillip Maurice Bunney, Jr. was born February 27, 1956 in San Pedro, California the son of Phillip Maurice Bunney and Bonnie (Brown) Bunney.

Phil’s father was in the military and the family was stationed at various locations during his childhood. He served in the United States Army 4 years and was stationed in Germany. Phil received his honorable discharge in July of 1978. Following his discharge, Phil lived in the Knoxville, Iowa area and did auto body work and was employed by 3M. He later lived in Kansas and Missouri. Phil obtained a CDL and drove a semi for 12 years. He retired from Mike Brooks Trucking in 1992.

Phil had a great sense of humor and liked to tell a story. He loved his family, friends and his country.

Phil passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of 65 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor Phil’s memory include his children: Amber of Lovilia and Phillip III of Oskaloosa; 7 grandchildren; his sister, Allyson Gould of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.



A Funeral Service for Phillip M. Bunney, Jr., age 65 of Pella, will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Visitation will begin after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
