Paul William Kockler was born August 26, 1934 in Armstrong, Iowa the son of Walter and Lucile (Kollasch) Kockler.
He was raised in the Bancroft area and graduated from St. John's High School in Bancroft in 1952. On June 9, 1956, Paul was united in marriage to Arlene Ruby at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard, Iowa. The couple lived in Lakota, Iowa until moving to Pleasantville in 1965. Paul owned and operated Farm & Town Elevator in Pleasantville until his retirement. After retirement, Paul started his own trucking business and hauled propane for Sully Transport for more than a decade. He was active in the community and served on the Pleasantville School Board for six years, including two as president.
Surrounded by his family, Paul passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola at the age of 81 years.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother George, identical twin granddaughters Nicole and Megan Krabbe in 1997, and granddaughter Angela Krabbe in 2001.
Those left to cherish Paul’s memory include his wife, Arlene; four children, Tammy (Rich) Kline of Indianola, Becky (Mike) Mayne of Council Bluffs, Mike (Janelle) Kockler of Altoona and Janie (Doug) Krabbe of Osage; 11 grandchildren, Dan (Martine) Kline, Jared (Leslie) Kline, Kelsey (Zachary) Klotz, Stephanie Mayne, Stephen Mayne, Paul (Kim) Kockler, Zachary Kockler, Kayla Krabbe, Connor Krabbe, Noah Krabbe and Spencer Krabbe; three great-grandchildren, Aedric Kline, Cressida Kline and Ian Kline; and six siblings, Barbara Meyer of St. Paul, MN, Harold of San Jose, CA, Allen of Nevada, Don of Nevada, Art of Bancroft and Bill of St. Jacob, IL; and many other family members and friends.
