Patsy “Pat” Ann Witzman was born September 19, 1929 in Tama, Iowa to Paul C. Miller and Ethyl (Forsythe) Miller. She passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at West Ridge Nursing & Rehab in Knoxville, Iowa.
Her father was a railway express agent and in 1934 the family was transferred to Atlantic Iowa. Pat graduated from Atlantic High School in 1947 and immediately went to work for Northwestern Bell. She and Gilbert were married May of 1952. Gregory Paul was born April 23, 1954 and Julie Lynn was born July 31, 1963. Gilbert accepted a position with Marion County Farm Service and the family moved to Knoxville in 1969. Pat continued her telephone career working with Bellamy Telephone and then for Contel. She retired from Contel/Network Design as an office assistant in 1991.
Being an avid race fan she worked and managed the Chamber of Commerce booth at the Knoxville Raceway for nearly 10 years. In 2001 Pat accepted an office assistant position for the Grand Secretary of Eastern Star retiring “again” in 2008.
She was a lifetime member of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association, Marion County Historical Society, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, Mary Circle, Friends of the Library and Laureate Alpha Kappa Sorority.
Left to cherish Pat’s memory is her daughter, Julie (Michael) Albert, a sister Mary Jane Watterson of Omaha, NE, step grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and countless friends. In addition to her husband Gib, Pat was preceded in death by her son, Gregory, her precious granddog Abby on March 10, 2022, a brother WR Miller, a sister VL Hirsch, stepdaughter Linda Good and stepson Larry Witzman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Foundation or to the Knoxville High School Julie Witzman Albert Scholarship
