Patricia Ann Nichols Passed away peacefully at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital the morning of
July 3, 2024.

Patricia Ann Nichols was born on March 4, 1930 in Georgetown, Iowa to Tom and Katie (Luttrell)
Coughlin. She attended Saint Patricks’ School in Georgetown and then graduated from Albia High School
in 1947. She attended Ottumwa Beauty Academy and moved to Knoxville in 1948 where she was
employed at Beulah’s Salon. Pat and Leonard were married at St. Anthony’s Church June 24th, 1951.
Later she opened her own Beauty Shop “Pat’s Beauty Salon” and made many friends and acquaintances
in her business. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she was active in altar and
rosary and the church bell committee. Pat was head of prayers and action for St. Anthony’s until her
death on July 3, 2024.

Pat was an avid Democrat. She received a Volunteer of the Year award from Governor Vilsack and was
active in her community establishing a seniors 911 program, Senior Center Board and followed the
Knoxville Panthers to see her children and grandchildren’s games and events. Pat enjoyed her time with
the Irish Euchre club and game nights with her children and grandchildren. She loved the wiffle
ballgame played each summer with her family and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, her daughter Marcia Nichols, brothers John
and Joe Coughlin and her sisters Betty Rose Sinnott, Mary Beary and grandsons Gage Zimmerman and
Tony Crow. She is survived by her children Pamela (Dewey)Crow of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Maureen
Nichols of Knoxville, Kevin (Jackie)Nichols of Cameron, Missouri and Chris (Becki) Nichols of Knoxville
and many dear nieces and nephews. Pat is also survived by the loves of her life, her 18 grandchildren,
20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Pat is also survived by her sister-in-law Gerry
Kingery of Indianola.
