Oneta Malovah Ammons was born October 3, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland the daughter of Myron Henry and Gladys Averill (Johnson) Culbertson.
She was raised in Indianola, Iowa where she graduated from high school. On September 4, 1959, Oneta married the love of her life and soul mate Ronald Lee Ammons. The couple always made their home in Swan/Pleasantville area. To this loving union five children were born.
Prior to retirement, Oneta worked at Bob Allen’s Textile manufacturing before becoming the dietary manager at Pleasant Care Nursing Home. In her spare she enjoyed sewing clothes for her family, whether it was a coat, pair of pants, or a Halloween costume for her children or grandchildren. She also loved all breeds of dogs; and she was never without her “posse” which included her Gypsy, Jazzie, Bo and Luke.
Oneta passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 80 years young. We believe the Good Lord decided it was time for Ronald’s love to join him. And Oneta did not want to be late for that dance with her love on their 62nd anniversary. May they forever dance in the stars and heaven above.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald and a brother, Myron.
Those left to cherish Oneta’s memory include her children: Ron, Jr. (Lucinda), Henry (Joan), David (Bobbi Jo), Melody (Steve) Allison and Jacqueline Ammons; grandchildren: Jacob, Jordon, Holden, Shawn, Brad, Meghan, Kaylee, Dillen, Carson and Elizabeth; great-grandson, Landon; siblings: Vernon Culbertson of Phoenix, Arizona and Gary (LuAnn) Culbertson of Woodburn, Iowa and many other family members and friends.
Oneta has been cremated and with Ronnie by her side a private family burial will be in Pleasantville Cemetery as the leaves begin to fall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Melcher-Dallas Fire & Rescue Units.
