Olga Vivian Gasparovich was born April 27, 1923 in Gary, Indiana the daughter of Jacob “Jack” and Katie (Poverzenic) Pintar.
Olga was raised in Gary and following high school she attended and graduated from Palmer Business School. During WWII, she was working at a factory in Chicago assembling parts for the war effort. During this time, she met a young soldier, Anton G. Gasparovich, who would become her husband. Olga and Anton were united in marriage on November 1, 1942 in Gary, Indiana. Olga lived in San Diego, California while Anton was serving the country. In 1945 the couple moved to Columbia, Iowa. Following Anton’s death in 1983 Olga moved to Knoxville. For the last seven years, she has been a resident of Pleasant Care in Pleasantville.
Olga was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary society in Knoxville. She served many years on the church’s dinner committee. She also volunteered at the Knoxville Senior Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing board games, cards, and doing puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Olga passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Pleasant Care Living Center, in Pleasantville, at the age of 91 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Matt A. Gasparovich.
Those left to mourn Olga’s passing include her daughters, Kathie (Douglas) DeRonde of Knoxville and Barb (Mike) Fort of Woodbury, Minnesota; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
