Noel Leroy Bolton was born January 8, 1939 in Jonesburg, Missouri, the son of Noel Byron and Mary Edna (Thurman) Bolton.
Leroy was born at the family home, the youngest of 9 children. He graduated from Montgomery County R-2 High School. Following graduation he took a job with McDonnell-Douglas (Boeing) aircraft company. On March 3, 1962 Leroy was united in marriage to Doris Peery. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together on March 3, 2021. To this union one daughter, Monica, was born. The couple made their home in Jonesburg, Missouri, with the exception of Leroy’s time in the United States Army from 1961-1963, when they were stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. Leroy was a Sergeant in the Army and decorated as an Expert Marksman and Rifleman. Leroy worked for McDonnell-Douglas(Boeing) aircraft for 50 years before retiring as an expeditor. Leroy and Doris were also owners of Ole Town Bar and Grill in Jonesburg, Missouri for many years. Leroy had many accomplishments in life, but he always thought of his family as his greatest one. So, In April of 2020, the couple moved to Pleasantville, Iowa to be near their daughter, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Leroy loved spending time with his family. One of his favorite things to do throughout his life was take his family to their weekend place on the Gasconade River. Many family memories were made of swimming, fishing, boating and tubing. In his later years Leroy enjoyed being on his computer keeping up with all of the world’s happenings and giving his political opinions to all who would hear them and some that didn’t want to hear them. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Leroy was loved by all who met him and was known for his mild mannered personality and his contagious soft smile.
Leroy passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Friday, February 24, 2023 at his home, in Pleasantville, Iowa at the age of 84 years.
In addition to his parents, Noel and Mary Bolton, Leroy was preceded in death by six siblings: Ruby Ludy, Dorothy Polston, Wilma Kemry, Jeanette Mazanec, Wilford Bolton and Byron Bolton.
Those left to honor Leroy’s memory include his wife, Doris of Pleasantville, IA; daughter, Monica (Gary) Friday of Pleasantville, IA; grandchildren: Haley (Connor) Cummings of Knoxville, IA, Kaitlyn (Blake) Friday of Red Oak, IA and Alli (Cody) Marsh of Carlisle, IA ; great-grandchildren: Ruger, Renlee and Ridge Cummings and Berkley Marsh; sister, Margie Taylor of Herman, Missouri; brother, Dale Bolton of St. Charles, Missouri, many nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
Leroy’s final wishes were to be cremated. No service will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Jonesburg, Missouri.
