Monica "Sis" Lee
August 22, 1939 — October 19, 2019
Monica Marie Marconi was born August 22, 1939 at home in Pershing, Iowa to Mary (Toigo) and James Marconi. Very early in her life, her family fondly called her Sis and it was the name that family and friends knew her by.
Sis attended Pershing Elementary then Attica High School which she graduated from in 1958. On November 7, 1958, Sis was united in marriage to John D. Lee Sr. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Knoxville, Iowa. John and Sis bought a house on 6th Street in Pershing where they lived their life together. Sis worked hard as a housewife and mother and took great pride in her home and family. She enjoyed cooking, reading and crossword puzzles.
Sis passed October 19, 2019 at Comfort House in Pella, Iowa at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John, her parents, her brother Tony Marconi, and son-in-law Dino Chenet and sister-in law Liz Pelong.
Six children were blessed to have Sis for a loving mother and cherish her memory; Christie Lee, Gina Lee-Hammann (Brian), John D. Lee Jr. (Tena), James E. Lee (Val), Tina Lee-Chenet (Mark), and Kathleen Lee-White (Troy). Twelve grandchildren to honor her memory; Monica Marshall (Scott), Emerie Bennett, Bradley Hammann, Jarrod Lee (Whittney), Amber Lee, Dylan Lee, Megan Lee, Dalton Lee (Tanya), Samantha Hammann, Sarah Chenet (Aaron), Nicole Chenet, and David White. Grandma Sissy's great grandchildren are Keaton Arkema, Elijah Lee, Sophia Scott, Adelia Lee, Sebastian Bumgardner, Kaelynn Lee, and Millee Flahive. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters; Eldred McKinney (David), Anita Nash (Nathan), her brother James Marconi, sister-in-laws Pat Marconi, and Jane Clingman (Gary) and uncle John Toigo and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
