Michael Dion Pitt was born July 19, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Leticia Ann (Striegel) Pitt.

He was raised in Knoxville, Iowa and graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1976. He attended Indian Hills Community College and Iowa State University. Mike first worked at Marion County Produce where he met his future wife, Judy Kingery. Mike and Judy were married June 15, 1979. He worked at the Hormel plant in Knoxville for several years before becoming a nationally registered paramedic. Being a paramedic was Mike’s true calling in life and he had worked for Monroe County Hospital and Mercy Hospital in addition to being a volunteer fire fighter/paramedic for Knoxville. Following his retirement, he has been a realtor.

In his spare time, Mike worked at the Eddyville Raceway and had owned a drag car. He was currently restoring a classic Chevy Blazer. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida as well as traveling to all the National Parks with Judy. In his younger years, Mike enjoyed playing baseball and volleyball. Hunting, fishing and golfing were other favorite pastimes. Mike was also a member of New Covenant Church in Knoxville.

Mike passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at his home at the age of 64 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leticia Pitt.

Those left to honor Mike’s memory include his wife, Judy; daughters, Ashley Pitt and Katie (Mathew) Titus; two grandchildren, Breckin and Anthony and many other family members and friends.



A memorial service for Mike Pitt, age 64 of Knoxville, will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Covenant Church. The family will receive friends Monday, June 19, 2023 at the New Covenant Church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knoxville Fire Association or to Indian Hills Community College to support E.M.S. Student Scholarships.
