Matthew Lee Adreon, the son of Dan and Vicki (Carter) Adreon was born November 30, 1983 in Pella, Iowa.
Matt was raised in Eddyville, Iowa where he spent a lot of his childhood playing outside with his sister and neighborhood friends. Many fond memories of wild bike rides, climbing trees, coon hunting, jumping off the trestle, swimming in the river, climbing the water tower, mushroom hunting, and fishing. Matt was an outstanding athlete in football, track, wrestling, and baseball for the Rockets. During high school, Matt was a state qualifier for wrestling, placing 5th at state his senior year. He graduated from Eddyville Blakesburg High School in 2002. After high school Matt received a scholarship to wrestle for the Triton Iowa Central Community College program in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Following his time at Iowa Central Community College, Matt worked several years for Eddyville Builders learning valuable trade skills. Matt became a talented licensed carpenter with such detail and pride in his workmanship. During this time, he was also an assistant and volunteer coach for the Eddyville Blakesburg football and wrestling program.
In 2013, Matt moved to Pleasantville where he began to volunteer coach for the Pleasantville Trojan wrestling program with Paul Gordon. Matt’s greatest joy and love came in 2014 when his son, Greyson was born. Matt desired to be a great dad for Greyson teaching him about fishing, hunting, and sports. Matt began to work for Seneca before becoming a self-employed contractor in the building and remodeling trades. Some of Matt’s work included building decks, remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, and trim work.
Matt was a strong and fearless man that loved deeply and put 100 percent into everything he did during his forty years on this earth. Tragically on Friday, May 24, 2024, Matt passed away at the Iowa Methodist Medical center, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cassidy, his paternal grandparents, Betty and Bob Adreon, his maternal grandfather, Vic Carter, and his cousin, Brad Fontana.
Those left to cherish Matt’s memory include his parents: Vicki Carter and Dan Adreon; son, Greyson Carter; sister, Callie, her husband Dave Williams and their children: Christian, Grace and Sebastian; siblings: Drake Menuis, his son, Zayden and daughter Vivian Menuis; Delaney, her husband Trenton Visser and son, Ryder Visser, and Dayton Menuis; his grandmother, Cathie Carter; and many other family members and friends.
There will be a reception and visitation time immediately following Matt's service in the high school cafeteria.
