Mary Ann Butrum
December 30, 1935 — January 26, 2020
Mary Ann Butrum was born December 30, 1935 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of William Clifford and Rosa Rebeca (Kirton) Butrum.
She was raised in Dallas, Iowa and graduated from Dallas Consolidated High School. Following graduation, Mary worked for the overall factory in Knoxville. When 3M opened a plant in Knoxville, Mary Ann was one of the first people hired. She retired from 3M after 26 years in 2000. Following her retirement, Mary Ann worked for Grace Home Health Care. She really enjoyed working for Grace Home Health Care and helping their clients.
In her spare time, Mary Ann enjoyed country and gospel music. She had a motorhome and drove to country music festivals all over the United States. Mary Ann was an animal lover and her dogs were constant companions. She enjoyed her family and loved to cook for them.
Mary Ann passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the Pleasant Care Center, in Pleasantville, at the age of 84 years.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by two brothers, George and John Paul Butrum.
Those left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory include her brother, Harold Butrum of Dallas, Iowa; sister, Eilene Reed of Lexington, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Donna Butrum of Dallas, Iowa; nieces: Becky Anderson of Tasp, California, Beverly Dailey of Lexington, South Carolina, Angela Essick of Knoxville, Iowa and Michelle Gilchrist of Dallas, Iowa; nephews: David Wolfe of Des Moines, Iowa and Bill Butrum of Dallas, Iowa and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service for Mary Ann Butrum, age 84 of Knoxville, will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Newbern Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
