Marvin Duane Jones was born September 13, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Lester and Inez (Cowman) Jones.
Following high school, Marvin entered college, but dropped out to enlist in the United States Air Force. Marvin served two years and attained the rank of Airman Second Class. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Marvin, with his new wife Donna, returned to Iowa to help run the family farm. A few years later, Marvin accepted a job with Boeing Aircraft in Renton, Washington. Thereafter, Marvin worked for White Freight in Oregon, before returning to Knoxville, Iowa in 1969. After returning to Iowa, Marvin worked for, primarily, Vermeer, and Hormel, prior to his retirement.
Marvin passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, at the Altoona Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Inez Jones.
Survivors include: three sons—Robert, and wife Vicki Jones, of Jefferson City, Missouri; Richard Jones, of Knoxville, Iowa; and Randall Jones, of Tracy, Iowa—, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many other family members and friends.
Marvin has been cremated and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
