Marlene Gay Rains

Marlene Gay Rains was born February 21, 1953 in Polk County, Iowa the daughter of Melvin Fredrick and Mae Belle (Donahue) Clements.
She was raised and attended school in Urbandale, Iowa. Marlene worked at the Bank of America in processing for several years. On June 6, 1984 she was united in marriage to Charles Rains. The couple has made their home in Pleasantville for the last 15 years.
In her spare time, Marlene enjoyed collecting dolls; having over 1000 in total. She loved all animals, but especially her cats. Through the years, her favorite cat had been Sammy. Marlene also cherished her many friends.
Marlene passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 70 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mae Belle Clements; siblings: John and Stephen Clements and Linda Alcorn and her son, Chris Oliver.
Those left to honor Marlene’s memory include her husband, Chuck; daughters, Stephanie Becker and Jennifer McMann; several grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
A visitation for Marlene Rains, age 70 of Pleasantville, will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Mason Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Following the visitation, Marlene will be cremated and a private burial will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to the Marion County Humane Society.
