Mark Frederick Mater

Mark Frederick Mater was born October 30, 1962 in Newton, Iowa the son of Dwight Mater, Jr. and Brenda Dennison Mater.
Mark’s family lived in several locations across the United States as his father Dwight was transferred for his work. Mark graduated from Ripon High School in Ripon, Wisconsin. He then attended the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Mark discovered his passion for plumbing and became a Master Plumber. He spent the majority of his working years plumbing new construction in and around Polk County, Iowa.
In his spare time Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved nature and all creatures and his instinct made animals very at ease. Mark was a life-long Pittsburg Steelers fan. He was known by family and friends as a kind and giving man.
Mark passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville, Iowa at the age of 61 years.
Those left to cherish Mark’s memory include his parents, Dwight Jr. and Brenda Mater; siblings: Dee (Ron) Heuschele and Dwight (Patti) Mater; nieces: Stephanie (Ray) Feran their daughter, Layla, and Sarah Heuschele; nephew, Daniel (Jessica) Mater, his extended family and numerous friends and business associates.
Burial will be in Graceland cemetery in Knoxville at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
