Marjorie Ann Rowland was born July 4, 1930 in Avon Lake, Carlisle, Iowa, the daughter of C.W. and Lela (Welch) Lamb.
She was raised in the Swan area and graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1948. On July 4, 1950 Marjorie was united in marriage to Willis Marion Rowland in Pleasantville. The couple farmed for over 32 years on the Rowland HI-LO Angus Farm, raising registered Angus cattle, hogs and support crops on over 1000 acres. Marjorie worked for the Farm Bureau for many years and sold Avon products. She and Willis also owned and operated Marion County Ag Center Inc., Duetz-Allis and later Will Rowl Trucking Inc. Additionally, Marjorie was an assistant to Pastor Marjorie Bradshaw at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was publisher of the Columbia United Methodist Church Newsletter for 10 years.
Marjorie enjoyed being a farm wife and working along her husband’s side in all their businesses. She was an animal lover, especially her horses, dogs and cats. Marjorie also liked being outside, especially when she was mowing, tending her flowers and garden or just enjoying nature’s beauty. Her greatest joy in life was family and Marjorie was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marjorie passed on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Legacy Lodge, in Chariton, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 8 days.
