Marilyn Darlene Wilmot was born July 29, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Paul and Nellie (Meredith) Cook.

Marilyn was raised in central and southern Iowa and graduated from Cardinal High School in Eldon, Iowa in 1969. She then attended art school. Marilyn lived in Ottumwa, Iowa for many years and was a professional seamstress. During this time, she attended Indian Hills Community College, earning a degree in robotics and automation. She later moved to Knoxville, Iowa and did electrical and mechanical maintenance for 3M company until retiring 10 years ago.

Marilyn was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Wilmot and although they did not have a long time together, they were true companions. They enjoyed being together and traveling to 50’s and 60’s rock shows. In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed crafts, sewing, traveling and penny slots. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and all the big get-togethers they had.

Marilyn passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 73 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James and grandsons, Lucas Beck and Dakota Hopwood.

Those left to honor Marilyn’s memory include her children: Glenn Olson, Michelle Orman, James Beck and Phillip Beck; siblings: Leonard Cook, Caroline Thompson, Tom Cook, Nellie Provenzano, Adele Littleton and Angela Arterberry and many other family members and friends.
