Marilyn Louise McDonald was born May 18, 1929 in Pleasantville, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Guy Forst and Ona Priscilla (Cribb) Forst.
She was raised in Pleasantville where she graduated from Pleasantville High School. On November 26, 1947 Marilyn was united in marriage to Isaac “Ike” McDonald in Princeton, Missouri. During their 50 years of marriage, the couple resided in several different states including Iowa, Washington, Illinois and Arizona. Through the years, Marilyn held various positions, working at the Continental Overall Factory, Amana, the Pleasantville High School Cafeteria, and in banking in Des Moines. In 1980, Marilyn and Ike moved to Panora, where they owned and operated a local grocery store. In 1984, the couple moved to Glendale, Arizona and operated Zazu's, a traveling funnel cake business.
Ike passed away in 1998, and Marilyn later returned to the Midwest and made her home in Knoxville, Iowa. She made several dear friends over the years and was an active member in the Red Hat ladies group, Sleepy Eye Club, as well as the Harvey Assembly of God Church.
Marilyn passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the age of 87, surrounded by her family and loved ones at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics.
She was preceded to Heaven by her parents, husband, and sister, Nadine Bachman.
Those left to cherish Marilyn’s memory include two brothers, Donald Forst (wife Carol) of Phoenix, Arizona and Darrell Forst of Sun City, Arizona; her daughter, Darlene Middelton (husband Vern) of St. Joseph, Missouri and son, Brian T. McDonald (husband Brian Bolyard) of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren, Michelle Hutton (husband Tim), and Jason Middelton (wife Christina); five great-grandchildren, Leslie Hutton, Jacob Isaac Hutton, Thomas Hutton, Andrew Middleton, and Caitlyn Middleton; and many other family members and friends.
