Marcella "Marcy" Leeper

Marcella Leeper “Marcy” (Awtry), who was widely considered by her loved ones as a loving wife, caring mother, adoring grandmother, & dedicated friend slipped away surrounded by her family on September 26, 2021.
Born in Iowa City on June 9, 1956, Marcy was welcomed by her parents Bev (Beaver) & Bill Awtry of Harvey, IA. Raised in Harvey along with her two younger brothers, Billy & Bob, Marcy graduated from Knoxville High School & married her high school sweetheart David Leeper of Harvey, on February 6, 1976. While remaining in Harvey, the couple was soon blessed with three children, Amy, Drew, & Cole, who she loved dearly. She fiercely cherished her family & the time spent with them was her greatest joy.
Among enjoying hobbies such as crafting, shopping, & spending time with family & friends, Marcy was also employed at the Pella Regional Health Center for 3 years before spending 17 years as a paraeducator for the Knoxville Community School District. She also became a constant figure at the Knoxville Raceway while being recognized by both drivers & fans as a security guard for 15 years.
Marcy soon found her true passion however as a grandma with the arrival of her two grandsons, Xander & Brendan. She reveled every moment with them, spending countless hours & nights supervising their sleepovers. She loved to find all the possible ways to spoil them while playing games & going to all of their events. To Marcy they were her world & time was never enough while she was with them.
Marcy is survived by her husband David, her three children Amy (Dan) Robbins of Harvey, Drew (Kelly) Leeper of Knoxville, & Cole Leeper of Harvey, her brothers Billy (Cathy) Awtry of Coralville & Bob (Dannella) Awtry of Harvey, her two grandsons, & her many nieces, nephews, loved friends, & extended family.
Marcy was preceded in death by her parents Bev & Bill Awtry, & closely loved in-laws James & Marvania Leeper.
