Lynn A. Huebler, DO, MD
Lynn Alvin Huebler died on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Comfort House, in Pella, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 3, 1934 in Wayne, Michigan, the son of Clarence David and Zelma Jane (Truesdale) Huebler. Lynn attended school in Michigan and Kansas, graduating from Garden state University in 1955 and Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1959. He moved to Seattle, WA and was married to Lois Joanne “Jo” Cadwallader in Yakima. They eventually settled in Omak, WA. Many happy years were spent in Omak on the family ranch raising Appaloosa horses, a growing family and managing a busy Family Medicine private practice.
In 1975 Lynn left private practice and joined the Veteran’s Administration in Fort Meade, SD, working as the Chief of Ambulatory Medicine and Occupational and Behavioral Medicine. In 1978 they moved to Dublin, GA where Lynn served as Chief of Staff of the VA Hospital there. In 1981 they moved to Knoxville where Lynn served as the Chief of Staff at the Knoxville VA until his retirement in 1998.
Lynn enjoyed camping, canoeing, kayaking, bicycling and caring for his native prairie restoration plot of several acres. His favorite camping and canoeing expeditions were to the Boundary Waters in MN. He had been a member of the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge, Iowa Plant Society, Sierra Club, and the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumni Association before his health declined.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by his five children: Carla Huebler of Knoxville, Robert (Trina) Huebler of Enumclaw, WA, Marla Huebler Suter of Knoxville, Kevin (Bernie) Huebler of Vancouver, WA and Eric (Dana) Huebler of Ankeny; two brothers, Robert and Richard (Loretta) Huebler of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Lynn A. Huebler, DO, MD, age 84 of Knoxville, will be held at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present. A private family graveside will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Monday, March 25, 2019. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knoxville Public Library or the Comfort House in Pella.
