Lonnie L. Crownover

Lonnie Leonard Crownover was born June 14, 1939 in Gassville, Arkansas the son of Leonard and Ruby (Suggs) Crownover.
Lonnie was raised in Whiteville, Arkansas and from a young age, he worked with his father in the family sawmill business. As part of this work he was often transporting lumber and learned to drive a semi and other heavy equipment at the age of 14. He moved to the Pleasantville area in the 1960’s where he continued the sawmill work with his father and brother in-law Raymond Phillips.
He was united in marriage to Cheryl Goering on August 16, 1975. Lonnie and Cheryl celebrated 40 years of marriage In August of this year.
Lonnie sold cars for Wright Chevrolet for over 18 years and worked for Kenworth Mid-Iowa for over 16 years.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed motorcycle riding in his spare time. Lonnie’s greatest joy was his family and he cherished his wife, sons and grandchildren.
Lonnie passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Taylor House Hospice, in Des Moines, at the age of 76 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen May, brothers in law Raymond Phillips and Jack Core.
Those left to honor Lonnie’s memory include his wife, Cheryl; sons: Joe (Shannon) of Clive and Jonathan (Leslie) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four grandchildren: A.J., Adam, Bailey and Brayden; two sisters: Christina Phillips and Sharon Core both of Pleasantville and many other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service for Lonnie Crownover, age 76 of Pleasantville, will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home.
