Linda Grace Leavengood

Linda Grace Leavengood was born May 29, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Harold and Velma (Vaughn) Davis.
She was raised in Tennessee until the age of 6 when her family moved to the Oskaloosa, Iowa. She graduated from Melcher High School in 1962. On December 22, 1962 Linda was united in marriage to John William “Bill” Leavengood. Two sons were born to this union. Following Bill’s discharge from the Air Force in 1968 the couple moved to Knoxville. As a young woman, Linda had worked at the Overall Factory and Big Bear in Knoxville. When the kids were older, Linda obtained her Beautician’s License 1971. She owned and operated Linda’s Looking Glass since 1987. She also worked at the Knoxville Raceway for over 20 years.
In her spare time, Linda enjoyed painting, reading and traveling. She was an avid ISU fan and named her beloved dog, Cy. She also liked watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. Linda’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her friends and family.
Linda passed away Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 75 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frank, a sister, Dolores Marie, and her husband John William “Bill”.
Those left to mourn Linda’s passing include her sons: Gary Edward and Randy Scott of Knoxville; grandson, Jessie Edward and wife April of Colcord, Oklahoma; siblings: Barbara Mohler of Newton, Janie Salsberry of Knoxville and Nancy Abbott (Mike) of Perry and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Funeral Service for Linda Leavengood, age 77 of Knoxville, will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society.
