Lena Mae “Mazie” Forst was born July 7, 1929 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Louis and Waunita Jones.
She was raised in Pershing and graduated from Knoxville High School. On June 5, 1947 Mazie was united in marriage to Jack Forst. The couple made their home in Monroe. Mazie was a homemaker and mother to five sons. In later years, she hosted a weekly gambling bus to Jackpot Junction. She also enjoyed a bargain and liked to shop at thrift stores. She looked forward to mushroom hunting every year. Mazie was known as a great cook and an excellent baker. Above all else, she cherished her family and loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mazie passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Accura Healthcare (Griffin’s) at the age of 87 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack and three sons: Tom, Dan and Michael.
Those left to honor her memory include two sons: David (Carol) Forst of Williamson and Tim (Robin) Forst of Monroe; 9 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brother, Richard of Chickasha, Oklahoma and many other family members and friends.
Lena has been cremated and burial will be in Pleasantville Cemetery at a later date.
