Larry Dean Vroegh, son of the late William (Bud) and Nellie (Marie) Vroegh, was born on March 8, 1943. Larry spent his childhood on the dairy farm where he and his brother Rick Vroegh eventually took over the farming operations. Larry married his sweetheart and best friend Linda Buckley on June 6, 1970. After farming Larry moved on to work for Gilchrist Jewett Lumber Company in Waukee, Iowa where he served as a yardman and door framer. Larry and Linda decided to retire in 2014 to chase their grandkids from game to game and dance recitals.
Larry passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016, surrounded by his family. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Bud Vroegh and Marie Vroegh and father-in-law, Max Buckley.
His family includes wife, Linda, children: Mary and Joe Hermes, Missy and Sheldon Card and Michael and Jen Vroegh along with his 8 grandchildren: Sam, Ryan, Max, Caroline, Hudson, Lincoln, Gavin and Jovi. He is also survived by his brother, Rick and wife Pat Vroegh, mother-in-law, Mary Buckley; sister-in-law, Connie and husband Dick Palmer; brothers-in-law: Frank and wife Betty Buckley and John and wife Jannette Buckley along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Larry’s name to Fairview Christian Church or Mercy Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Online condolences may be left at BertrandFuneralHomes.com.
