LeRoy David Duff was born April 22, 1955 in Knoxville, Iowa the son of LeRoy Marion
and Charlotte Elizabeth (Shore) Duff.
David graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1973, where he
excelled at track and cross country. Following high school, David attended Iowa State
University, earning a bachelor’s degree. He then attended the Chicago School of Optometry.
After earning his doctorate, David moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and began his career. He
worked for various optometrists before starting his own practice in Shakopee, Minnesota. David
was involved in civic organizations and was a proud sponsor of a local charity 5K. He owned and operated his own practice until retiring in 2020, at which time he began wintering in Ft. Myers, Florida.
In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing trips his entire life; first with his father and uncles
and later annual trips to South Dakota. In his younger years he also enjoyed duck hunting. He
was a loyal Vikings fan and enjoyed playing recreational volleyball. David took great joy in his family and was especially proud of his nephews.
David passed away April 12, 2024 at his home in Ft. Myers, Florida at the age of 68
years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish David’s memory include his sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and
Jay Gardner of Pleasantville; nephews, Clint and Cody Gardner and many other family
members and friends.
