On December 5, 1970, John and Karen Franey were blessed to add a daughter, Kimberly Ann to their lives. After a few moves the family settled their home in Pleasantville, IA in 1972. Kim attended school in Pleasantville and graduated with the class of 1989. She was active in many things during her years in school, but one thing became her passion-softball. She wasn’t pushed by anything other than her passion. Her dad then became her coach, catcher, and biggest fan. They would have to replace many boards on the backyard fence, but it all became worth it. Her work led her to become an All-Conference and All-State pitcher and helped her teammates earn a spot in the Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament. After her high school career was over, she was fortunate enough to live her dream of playing for Central College. The passion never ended and she returned to her high school to become a softball coach with her former mentor and eventually as an assistant with her husband, Robert.

Kim met Robert Friday while attending high school and had their first date on Valentine’s Day in 1987. They dated through high school and college and were married on October 14, 1995. After years of struggles, they were finally blessed with a son, Braidy, on March 28, 2003. Another miracle, Trey(Boo), blessed their family on September 30, 2008. These boys became her soul.

Kim was a Vice President at Peoples Bank in Pleasantville where she was able to follow in her father’s footsteps. At this job, she was able to grow relationships to become a community leader. She was active in her church, athletic booster club, chamber of commerce, many different charities and community functions and was a little league coach and lifelong Pleasantville Trojan and Central College Dutch supporter.

Those left to continue Kim’s legacy are her parents John and Karen Franey of Pleasantville, brother Joe (Sara) Franey of Indianola, Father In-Law and Mother In-Law, Marion and Susan Friday, and Brother In-Law and Sister In-Law, Gary and Monica Friday. She was always supportive of her nieces and nephews Jack, Hogan and Carly Franey and Haley (Connor) Cummings, KK and Alli Friday and her great-nephew, Ruger Cummings. Kim was also entrusted as Godmother to Alli Friday, Austin Krob, Chance Bender, Gabe Seuferer, Tyson Fleshner, Jack Franey, and Grace Williams.

Her husband, Robert, of 22 years and sons, Braidy and Trey, will do their best to keep her spirit alive. We would also like to remember the many “daughters” that she had the privilege of coaching and have touched our lives.

Kim left this world on Friday, March 9, 2018 but will never leave our memories and hearts.
