Kenneth Charles Harrison was born April 9, 1926 in Cromwell, Iowa the son of Archie and Nora Jetta (Rodson) Harrison.
He graduated from Creston High School. On June 17, 1945 Ken was united in marriage to Charlene Claypool in Creston. The couple lived in the Twin Cities and Ken worked in a refrigerator plant. The couple later returned to Creston where Ken worked in the street department. Ken then worked as an appliance repairman for Ward’s until opening his own appliance repair business. Ken and Charlene moved to Knoxville in the early 80’s and he continued the appliance repair business. In his retirement, Ken worked for True Value in Knoxville and for Marion County. Ken was also an ordained minister and was a founding member of the Friendship Christian Church in Knoxville. He enjoyed working at the church and also taught bible studies at the Newton Correctional Facility.
In his spare time, Ken enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and tending to his fruit trees.
Ken passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at West Ridge Nursing & Rehab at the age of 91 years.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene; son, Jeffrey Allen Harrison and siblings: Ruth at birth, Wayne, Eugene and Virgie Smith.
Those left to cherish Ken’s memory include his children: Dennis Craig Harrison (Jackie) and Melody Lynne Abell (Jeffery) all of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prison Mindfulness Institute.
