Kenneth William Gray was born April 23, 1944 in Montezuma, Iowa the son of James Robert and Harriet Willma (Gross) Gray.
Kenneth graduated from Montezuma High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in England and Germany before his honorable discharge in November of 1965. Kenneth returned home and worked for Miracle Manufacturing in Grinnell, Sigs Manufacturing in Montezuma and then managed the bowling alley in Montezuma. Kenneth then attended college where he earned a degree in computer programming. He worked as a computer programmer for the State of Iowa until retirement. He has lived in Knoxville since 1983.
In his spare time, Kenneth enjoyed bowling, the Hawkeyes and golfing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer.
Kenneth passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at West Ridge Specialty Care, in Knoxville, at the age of 79 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Emmett Shearer and siblings Jim and Sally.
Those left to honor Kenneth’s memory include his children: Sarah Gray, Scott (Jen) Gray and Tammy (Brian) Shearer; significant other, MaryAnn Finton; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings: Nancy (David) Rank, Larry (Lynn) Gray and Pam Beck; step-daughters: Alexandra Nicole Littell and Keri Leigh Cooper and many other family members and friends.
A memorial service for Kenneth Gray, age 79 of Knoxville, will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Military Honors will follow the service at the church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
