Kathy Bare

Kathy Lorena Bare was born December 6, 1941 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Donald David Alley and Callie Maxine (Cooper) Alley.
She was raised in Red Rock, Iowa and her family moved to Pleasantville while Kathy was in high school. Kathy graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1960. On April 2, 1961 she was united in marriage to Lloyd George Bare in Pleasantville. The couple lived in Cadillac and then Grand Rapids, Michigan before moving to Rockford, Iowa in 1968. They owned and operated a drug store in Rockford until moving to Pleasantville in 1983 to operate Bare Drug Store. Prior to retirement, Kathy was a Realtor and Appraiser, working with Rich DeHeer in Knoxville. Following Lloyd’s death in 2002, Kathy operated Bare Drug until 2005.
In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, knitting, crocheting and making crafts. She was proud of her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathy passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at Pleasant Care Living Center, in Pleasantville, at the age of 79 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd and Son, Bryon.
Those left to cherish Kathy’s memory include her sons: Dave (Carol) of Pleasantville and John (Stephanie) of Newton; grandchildren: Lloyd, Travis, Bryce, Shelby and Alex; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters: Donna Jarvis and Judy Jansson and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Kathy Bare, age 79 of Pleasantville, will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Pleasantville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gladys Black Chimney Swift Tower & Memorial Garden in Pleasantville.
