Joyce Arlene Marsh was born August 2, 1943 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island the daughter of George and V. Maxine Murray.
As a girl, Joyce was raised in Promise City, Iowa and Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School. On July 14, 1962 she was united in marriage to Ronald Marsh. To this union five sons were born. Joyce worked as a clerk in the Tracy, Iowa post office before transferring to the main post office in Des Moines, where she retired after 40 years of service. For the last 15 years, she has made her home in Colfax.
In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed yard sales, flower gardening and shopping. She was also a long-time member of the Orange Blossom Cloggers. Joyce adored her grandchildren and always had a gift for them when they visited.
Joyce passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Comfort House, in Pella, at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: George “Skip” Murray, Michael Murray and Elizabeth “Bess” Patterson.
Those left to cherish Joyce’s memory include her sons: Steve (Susan), Mark, John (Valerie), Brad (Kendra) and Brian (Carolyn); grandchildren: Cameron Marsh, Brittney Marsh, Katie (Jake) Fish, Zachary (Kimmy) Marsh, Spencer (Sarah) Marsh, Katelyn Marsh, Derek Marsh and Ashley Marsh; great-grandchildren: Jaxson Fish, Madison Van Zee, Waylon Marsh and Kinzley Marsh, with another due in May; siblings: David Murray and Virgia Kingery and many other family members and friends.
