Jerry Joe Witter was born November 14, 1945 in Knoxville, Iowa the son Earl LaVerne Witter and Madonna Mae (Mitchell) Witter.
He was raised in the Flagler, Iowa area and attended Pella schools. Jerry has lived in the Pella area most of his adult life. On November 7, 1986 he was united in marriage to Janice Wolvers. Jerry had worked for Pella Corp and drove a truck for Ben Shinn, Maxim and Zylstra before taking a job at Vermeer. He was a welding and equipment tester for Vermeer, retiring in 1996.
Jerry was a horseman and enjoyed participating in rodeos and showing horses. He was a member of the Iowa Rendezvous and enjoyed camping and hunting with the mountain men. Jerry was well known for his sense of humor and being a jokester. He was a devout Christian and volunteered many years with the Royal Rangers through the Assembly of God Churches.
Jerry passed away Monday, May 24, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 75 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ron and brother-in-law, Gary Van Kooten.
Those left to honor Jerry’s memory include his wife, Janice; daughter, Malinda (Jeff) Bragg; step-daughter, Melody (Carl) DeJong; step-son, Mike Beaver; grandchildren: Ashley (Ryan) Axtell, Alex (Tiffany) Bragg and Austin Bragg; step granddaughter, Shayla (Adam) VanHal; great-granddaughter, Avalyn Axtell; sister, Joyce Van Kooten; brother, Greg Witter; sister-in-law, Vicki Witter and many other family members and friends.




A Graveside Memorial service for Jerry Witter, age 75 of Pella, will be held Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery near Harvey. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date
