Jerry Wayne Richards

Jerry Wayne Richards was born February 25, 1937 in Pleasantville, Iowa the son of Thomas J. and Ruby (Galvin) Richards.

Jerry graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1954. Jerry was drafted into the Army where he served three years. He married Nancy Robuck and they later divorced. Jerry later married Judy Kane and they recently celebrated their 51st anniversary. Jerry owned and operated his own plumbing and heating business and later worked for 20 years with rural water. He also did private backhoe work for many years.

Jerry was a horseman and enjoyed riding and driving horses and camping at the Elk Rock horse grounds. Even though he was retired, Jerry was an important part of the construction of the Pleasantville Christian Church. Donning his well-known Carharts and taking a lawn chair, he reported to work every day.

Jerry passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 88 years.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason and his siblings: Jack, Otis, Hoot, Bonnie Vrban, Joanna McRae, Margaret Bane, Carolyn Hull and Mariann Stubbs.

Those left to honor Jerry’s memory include his wife, Judy; children: Nikki Richards, Carla (Robert) Bailey, Thomas Richards, Jerry Richards and Juliana Richards; grandchildren: Kendra, Tiffany, Matthew, Tommy, Timmy, Kyle, Kevin, Michael, Shana and Amber; great-grandchildren: Ariyah, Jason, Jaxlynn, Lincoln, Savion, Carter, Jalen and Kaira and many other family members and friends.
