Jerry Don Raymie was born October 7, 1937, in Albia, Iowa, the son of Charlie and Angie (Ansley) Raymie.

He was raised in Albia, where he excelled in football and basketball, and held the long jump record for decades. Following his graduation from Albia High School, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy. He served four years prior to his honorable discharge. On June 21, 1959, Jerry was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Donna Sylvester. The couple lived in San Diego before moving to Minneapolis. Jerry worked for Grain Belt Brewery as a security guard in the Twin Cities for 11 years. Jerry and Donna then moved their family to Albia and eventually to Knoxville where Jerry was a security guard for 3M. He retired from 3M after 22 years of service.

Jerry was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bow hunting and snowmobile riding. He also enjoyed watching and participating in sports. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

Jerry passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the V.A. Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 87 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Charlene Ransom.

Those left to honor Jerry’s memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Donna; sons: Mark (Lori) Raymie and David (Pam) Raymie; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren (and two more on the way); brother, Louie Raymie, and many other family members and friends.
